Grand Canyon Backpacking: Phantom Ranch T-Shirts

In 1989, under the management of Warren Tracy, Phantom Ranch began offering t-shirts with designs only available at the Canteen for those who made their way to Phantom Ranch. The design would change each year, usually in the first quarter. They started offering only one t-shirt style and included long-sleeve t-shirts especially for the river runners. At some point, two designs were offerred.

I have hiked and backpacked to Phantom Ranch many many times, with the first trip in 1984. When I returned home with a PR t-shirt, I would write the year on the shirt tag. Later years, they stopped using the tags and imprinted the information directly on the inside of the shirt, so I didn't write the year. In 2010, they started a series of t-shirt designs by the same artist for several years. But, in 2014 they offered a design by an artist who had spent 1973-2006 living at Roaring Springs in the Canyon. Shown below are the designs of the t-shirts I collected.
